Destruction Derby is a vehicular combat video game developed by Reflections Interactive and published by Psygnosis in 1995. Based on the sport of demolition derby , the game tasks the player with racing and destroying cars to score points. The developers kept the tracks small to force the cars to stay close together, so that more crashes could occur. Versions of Destruction Derby were released for PlayStation , MS-DOS , Sega Saturn , and Nintendo 64. [ Note 1 ] Critics considered the game fun and praised its graphics and car destruction system, but the Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn versions received mixed reviews. The game launched the Destruction Derby franchise , continuing with its 1996 sequel, Destruction Derby 2 .
